Helmet day 1

We went to the specialist on September 4th and got Caelyn’s helmet fitted. We live almost two hours away with traffic and had to leave at 8am to get their for her first appointment to get the band. They did some initial adjustments and then we left for four hours and had to go back in for them to check the fit, shave more areas and check her skin for potential rashes. Everything checked out and she is doing well so far. Even though it was a very long day.

Caelyn has been wearing it since then, with the exception of skin checks and stretches for her tortocollis. She is doing great and doesn’t seem to mind it. We also had her appointment for early intervention for the tortocollis and they were shocked to not see any developmental deficits that are normally present. They said that they can tell she has it, but her development is right on track and they could tell we have been really working with her to be able to do the same things, since it is more difficult for her to do. One example is passing toys from hand to hand, as torticollis babies find it difficult to look to one side and tend to avoid that hand. They will be coming twice a month at my request and will step back to once a month when I feel comfortable.
